The Winery at Red Bar

1122 Thomasville Road #9
Tallahassee, FL 32303
(850) 219-9463

There is something about the way a glass or two of red wine makes you feel. It is sexy and relaxing and complex, and each glass is completely different from the last. If you like to sip wine while melted into the comfort of a leather armchair, then melt-away with one of Red Bar's very own brews. Feeling adventurous? The winery offers you the chance to create and bottle your very own microbrew. It takes six weeks for your wine to ferment, and through the whole process, you can taste, tweak and even create a custom label for your creation. The craftsmen are helpful and passionate and you will find you will never look at grapes the same way again.

El Jalisco

2022 North Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL 32303-4728
(850) 878-0800

I love the summer, in case you haven't noticed. Most of us at backslash are from Miami and that whole winter thing gets old quick. I have been waiting for the days to get warm enough to sit outside with the warm sunshine on my face and a cold margarita in my hand. If this sounds like you, El Jalisco on North Monroe is the place you need to get in your car and drive to RIGHT NOW. The margaritas are always two for one and they have heavy hands and big glasses. The patio is big in case you have a crowd and the food is cheap and yummy. It's the perfect way to lose an entire afternoon...

Mint Lounge

215 West College Avenue
Tallahassee, FL 32301-7751
(850) 391-1309

This is the perfect time of year to go to Mint. With DJ B Mac on the tables it's going to get hot and sweaty on that dance floor, yet the weather is still refreshingly cool enough to take your drink outside to the patio for a while. Get to Mint early on the weekends or you will be stuck in line, but there's always a crowd and plenty of options. Everyone tends to dress their best downtown, and as the summer gets closer, the dresses get skimpier. The drinks are decent and it is right down the street from four additional clubs, so you can still get the bar hopping effect of the strip without the effect of... well, the strip. Check out our happy hour guide to plan your little downtown get down!

First Friday at Railroad Square

567 Industrial Drive
Tallahassee, FL 32310-4803
(850) 222-6889

On the first Friday of every month, the bohemians of Railroad Square come out to play. In case you still haven't stumbled upon this Tallahassee treasure, Railroad Square is a little community of galleries, local shops, and all kinds of artists and entrepreneurs. You can find some delicious food, go rock climbing, get help fixing your bike, pick up a locally designed glass piece, or even watch a show. It gets even better, though. Once a month, there's liquor and music. Starting at about 6 pm, the residents of the Square throw open their doors and bring the party to the streets. Everything stays open later and it's a great place to go for a low-key Friday night, or as a kick start to a crazy weekend. Park your car (or your bike) and just let your instincts lead. You never know what you'll come across at Railroad Square....

Lees Wine Bar

1700 N Monroe St
Tallahassee, FL 32303
850.692.3404

lees: 1. noun. From the French sur lie. The remnant particles of grapes and sediment left over from the process of wine fermentation. 2. noun. From the American Lee Satterfield. The vibrant and chic wine bar celebrating the grape in its naughtier form. A bold, alluring variety, with live musical notes, strong seductive undertones and a light fruity finish, lees has power to surprise and seduce any palate. The bartenders are as knowledgeable as they are sexy as they serve you an icy glass of fresh mango sangria or Black Bubbles, a moody red champagne. Local artists and musicians flow in and out leaving traces of themselves behind and everyone who enters is family in no time. Elegant and approachable, Lee's has a strange way of making time just disappear...

Atlantis Bar and Grill

2717 Mahan Drive
Tallahassee, FL 32308
850.224.9711

For a hot steamy night of dirty dancing, Atlantis is where you want to be. Tallahassee's only Latin nightclub will get you your fix of sabor for the weekend and after a few mojitos or cuba libres, even the shyest will find themselves drawn to the dance floor. Live music on Fridays and free salsa and merengue lessons on Saturdays offer the option for something different in town. If you are tired of the same old thing every weekend, take a chance and take a drive down Mahan for some sexy latin lovin.

Down Below at Barnacle Bills

1830 North Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL
850.385.8734

If you're into dark and dirty (in a good way!) Down Below is the spot. The undercarriage of a pretty banging seafood restaurant, DB hosts weekly karaoke, live music, and cheap drinks. No glam, no gimmicks. Just a good old fashioned watering hole with all the necessities. You can keep it low key with a game of pool or darts or get rowdy with Planet Zoron's live hip hop act. Far away from the Tennessee strip, parking is no problem and cover is usually free ninety nine. So get in line.

Fermentation Lounge

112 All Saints Street
Tallahassee, FL 32301
850.727.4033

Tucked away behind the old, bleak, industrial buildings of All Saints Street, is a colorful little place known as the Fermentation Lounge. Retro furniture and local artwork set the mood for an adventure in hops. From Bison Organic Honey Basil to Ace Joker Cider, the lounge boasts over 100 different bottled beers. With 16 kinds on tap at any given time and a 5 Sample Flight for only $7, it can be a long, happy, (and inexpensive!) trip to your new favorite brew. My current favorite is Woodchuck Rasberry Cider (yuh-MEEE), although their elusive chocolate "fermentini" is a mind freak. The love child of bold red wine and sexy chocolate, it tastes like two would be too much! As Tyler the bartender says with a twirl of his magician's mustache, "If a Yoohoo did adult films...."

Epic Florida Tailgates: FSU

Booze Factor- 5 \\ Boob Factor- 5 \\ Legitimacy- 5 \\Aggregate- 15

Seminole loyalists have the epicenter of the ultimate tailgating experience at their convenience: the Indian Village Apartment Complex is the hot spot and its located right across from "The House That Bobby Built" or Doak Campbell Stadium. "It's like going to a weekly alcoholic family reunion; everybody you love is there drunk and celebrating," says alumnus and former resident Alex Schneider, 21. "

Krewe de Gras

1304 N Monroe St
Tallahassee, FL 32303
(850) 222- 0378

For a taste of New Orleans, forget the six hour road trip to the big easy and just take the six minute drive to Krewe de Gras on North Monroe. Styled after the old world bars of Louisiana, Krewe de Gras has all the goods to satisfy your N'awlins cravings. Hurricanes, gumbo and jazz flow freely here and the fleur de lis decor might just make you forget where you are. The bartendenders are friendly (and hot!) and they've got just what you need to get away while staying in. Don't miss out on their Mardis Gras festivities, with a real New Orleans band and real fake New Orleans float. But keep your shirt on ladies, remember we are still in Tallahassee.
